Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski visited Libya’s second largest city Benghazi this week to show support to rebel troops currently fighting against President Muammar Gaddafi.

“The visit is a sign of the political support for the future of Libya, which will involve the construction of a modern, democratic state and society,” said a statement released by the Polish Foreign Ministry.

According to Polish reports, Mr Sikorski’s visit was timed to fit in with the country’s upcoming presidency of the European Union. ...
