Walesa's old bed is proving a hit with tourists
The bed which Solidarity hero Lech Walesa slept in back in the early 1980s is now being used by tourists.
The small two-room apartment in the south-eastern village of Arlamow, in which Walesa was held during Martial Law, has since been converted into a hotel and is proving popular with guests.
“Since 1982 the bed has stood in the flat where the Solidarity leader was held for a number of months,” says Piotr Korczak, a spokesman for the firm that owns the hotel. “He slept in one of the rooms, and two police officers stayed in the other.”
He added that the chance to sleep in the bed comes at no extra costs for guests. ...
