Foreign officers will be granted more power during the football campionships
New reports suggest that foreign police and border guards working in Poland are to be given more power ahead of the EURO 2012 football competition.
According to TOK FM, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration wants to hand out more rights to foreign authorities operating on Polish soil in time for the event which Poland will co-host with neighbours Ukraine.
While they will still only be able to use a gun to defend themselves and will only be able to detain people when in the company of Polish officers, the new powers will enable foreigners to travel free on public transport and enjoy the same legal rights as Poles. ...
