Both the PM and President were pleased with Obama's visit
Polish leaders welcomed commitments made by President Barack Obama during his visit to Poland for the deployment of a permanent US air force detachment to the country and the rotational presence of F16 combat aircraft.
The American president’s confirmation of the deployment came as one of the high points of a trip laden with symbolism and aimed at shoring up flagging support in a country that has for long been one of America’s most unwavering allies.
Negotiations between Warsaw and Washington had been clouded by rumours the Poles had been pressing a reluctant US government for a permanent F16 presence in Poland.
