A man faces five years behind bars for trying to sell a coin that he found - because it belongs to the Treasury.

According to daily Fakt, the man from the northern city of Szczecin came across the 1695 antique coin in roadworks and had attempted to sell it on an auction website.

However Polish law states that all antique coins found buried in the ground belong to the National Treasury and should be returned.

Police are now waiting on experts to give their opinions and an estimated valuation. ...
