New laws mean that those found with small quantities may not be prosecuted
Police arrested 40 people in the capital last weekend during a pro-cannabis rally.
According to Polskie Radio, the day passed peacefully but for a few pockets of trouble including bottles and eggs thrown at police and one case of shoplifting. Most of the arrests though concerned drug possession.
“In total we made 40 arrests during the day, including six minors,” said Deputy Inspector Maciej Karczynski.
The rally took place merely days after a new law was signed by President Komorowski stating that people caught with small quantities of marijuana, for personal use, may now escape prosecution. ...
