Poland is not happy with the compensation its famrers will recieve
The EU has announced a EUR 210 mln compensation handout for farmers affected by the E. coli virus, according to Polska The Times.However Poland, along with France, Slovakia and Spain, voted against the package, believing it to be insufficient compared to the total costs lost.
While final figures have yet to be announced, it has been reported that no more than 50 percent of the producer price will be paid.
“The compensation was not divided up nationally, which largely limits the possibility of using the funds in places where agricultural producers are weaker,” said Marek Sawicki, Poland’s Agriculture Minister.
