Tomasz Gollob came roaring round the outside of the track in trademark style to take victory in the Danish Grand Prix last week and kick start the defence of his speedway world championship. In an exciting final, the Pole was initially pushed wide, and to the back of the pack by Australian Jason Crump, but not for long.

As Gollob explained later to Przeglad Sportowy, “Crump was hogging the kerb and doing everything he could to block me going into the bend. But paradoxically he made things better for me. I wanted to take the wide line, but his moves forced me even wider and I found an even grippier path than I’d taken in the earlier races.
