The club have asked to play their first five games next season away from home
Lech Poznan found themselves homeless this week as their contract to use the City Stadium was torn up by the local authority that owns it. Lech now have nowhere to play their first five games of the season and have had to ask permission to start the season by playing all their early games away from home.
The problems involve a scheduled Red Bull X-fighters event, after which the turf will have to be re-laid, leading Poznan Sports and Recreation Centres to close the stadium till September. As a result, Lech face a loss of PLN 5mln in revenues from home games and have had to ask for special treatment from the Ekstraklasa in arranging the new schedule of matches.
