The monk raised around 50,000 Zlotys to help the needy
A Polish monk faces 10 years in jail after robbing goods from a monastery in order to raise money for the less-privileged.
According to daily Fakt, the 40-year-old monk stole goods including paintings and books between 2009-2010 and sold them over an internet auction site, raising almost PLN 50,000.
But the ‘rob from the rich’ thief claims he was acting in good faith, stating that none of the items he took held any significant relevance and were better off being sold to help those with health problems and in need of medication or treatment.
Most of the items have since been recovered by the police. ...
