Ziobro's comments have caused embarrassment amongst fellow politicians
Hopes that Poland’s EU presidency would remain unsullied by domestic political fighting floundered after just a few days after a PiS politician launched an attack on the government in the European parliament.
To make matters worse the attack occurred right after PM Donald Tusk had addressed the parliament, and therefore drew more unwanted attention to the bitter divisions in Polish politics that could that could blot the presidency.
MEP Zbigniew Ziobro, a Law and Justice (PiS) strongman and a bitter critic of the prime minister, was branded as the protagonist after he savaged Mr Tusk on the very public stage.
