Babies receive a number of compulsory injections against diseases such as polio
People who refuse to vaccinate their children are liable to be fined PLN 550 per child despite increasing opposition from parents who contend the injections do more harm than good.
The law dictates that new-born babies are given a string of compulsory injections to protect them against diseases such as TB, polio and hepatitis B, and that parents who refuse to accept their administration face a fine.
But despite the danger of getting fined more parents are refusing to have their children injected, launching internet campaigns, and even petitioning the health ministry to be given the right to decide what, if any, vaccinations their children receive.
