No-go for billboard ban

The court has ruled that billboard posters can be used for election purposes
The constitutional court ruled against proposals for two-day elections and a ban on billboard election posters and political TV advertising declaring they all ran counter to the Polish constitution.
The decision came as blow to the Civic Platform (PO) led government, which had put forward the proposals with the avowed intention of increasing voter participation and reducing the “propaganda” message carried in large billboards and party political broadcasts on television.
Civic Platform had also argued that a ban on certain types of advertising would mean political parties, which get tax-payer funding for their operations, save money ahead of the autumn’s general election.
