The ex-head of the department has since quit his post
There were shocking reports this week after a man had the wrong kidney removed in hospital during an operation.
According to TVN24, the patient, as yet unnamed, was told that his healthy kidney was taken out instead of the cancerous one during a standard operation procedure.
The incident took place in Warsaw’s clinic on ul. Wawelska and has already witnessed a huge reaction from both the national press and doctors alike.
Andrzej Cichocki, ex-head of the surgery department who has since resigned from his post, expressed his regret over the situation, and went as far as blaming himself for what has happened.
