Wisla are one step closer the Champions League
Wisla Krakow took a giant step towards qualifying for the first round proper of the Champions League, with a confident 3-1 victory over Litex Lovech this Wednesday night. Star of the show was Wisla’s Israeli playmaker, Maor Melikson, who scored the first two goals. On Friday the Krakow team will discover who stands in their way to the promised land. Victory in the next two-leg match would mean a Polish team playing in the Champions League for the first time since the last century.
Not that Wisla are especially Polish at the moment - with their Dutch manager and a raft of foreign players, only two members of Wednesday’s team are actually Polish. But fans won’t care if the side continue ...
