A 51-year-old man has shocked the nation by murdering his entire family in a frenzied attack then committing suicide.

The man killed his wife, daughter and step-daughter in an orgy of violence in the small village of Szczepankowo in the Mazury lake district.

Police went to his house after a neighbour reported a disturbance. There they found the two children, aged four and 13, dead. After killing them and his 35-year-old wife the man, named only as Zdzislaw G. for legal reasons, then hanged himself.

Police did not reveal how he had murdered his family but a source quoted by TVN24 said he had used a knife to kill the children and a blunt instrument to batter his wife to death. The girl ...
