Anna Grodzka claims the new proposals will help those who feel trapped in their body
A foundation which supports Poland’s transgender community has requested the Ministry of Justice amend the law to make it easier for people to change their sex.
The proposed laws would mean that transsexuals would no longer need the consent of their parents if they wished to go through with the procedure, reports Gazeta Wyborcza.
In order to make the appeal, the Trans-Fuzja foundation is currently working with Ombudsman Irena Lipowicz.
“Due to problems in the system, a by-law was introduced,” says Ms Lipowicz. “But this by-law means the person involved sometimes has to sue their own parents which merely causes more pain and confusion.”
