Third String Wins in Battle for Euro Squad Spots

Łukasz Gargula and Radosław Matusiak advanced their case for spots in Poland’s squad for the Euro 2008 football finals this week, guiding a team of domestic league players to a 2-0 win over Estonia. Gargula, the focus of most of Poland’s play in an energetic first 60 minutes, delivered a predictably precise ball from a set-piece late in the first half for his former club mate at GKS Bełchatów to prod home from close range. Tomasz Zahorski was good value with the second -his first goal for the national team to add to an assist earlier this year in his debut for the national side.
