One of Poland’s most experienced cave divers died while exploring underwater caverns on the west coast of Ireland.

Thirty-four-year-old Artur Kozlowski disappeared while diving in caves near Gort, County Galway. The Irish Coastguard reported that his body had been found at a depth of 52 metres, 850 metres from the entrance to the cave. Mr Kozlowski had been reported missing when he failed to emerge at an arranged time.

Two friends conducted an immediate search but were unable to locate him. The Coastguard said it would mount a recovery operation to retrieve the body, and a post mortem would be carried out in an attempt to ascertain what caused the diver’s death.
