Rostowski ‘war’ speech attacked

Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski has stoked controversy in European political circles by speculating that an economic crisis in the euro zone could in fact lead Europe to war.
Mr Rostowski made his dramatic warning in a speech to the European parliament about the threat posed to the continent by the euro-zone crisis.
“Poland, as a country and the presidency, fully supports all efforts to combat this crisis through further integration of the euro zone,” he said in the pessimistic speech.
“[A banker friend] told me that after such economic and political shocks, like those currently affecting Europe, it is rare that after 10 years there is not the catastrophe of war.”
