Police snipers may be employed at the PGE Arena and other grounds during EURO 2012
It was announced this week that it is likely police snipers will be present at games during the upcoming Euro 2012 football tournament in Poland.
The news, which was originally revealed by Rzeczpospolita, has since been confirmed by a spokesman for the forces.
In order to try out the idea, a test-run was carried out recently at the Poland-Germany game in Gdansk where the crowd was observed by armed police.
“We are still experimenting with different elements of security,” said police spokesman Mariusz Sokolowski. “If necessary, we will be using armed snipers.” ...
