Sikkorski claimed Belarus was isolating itself through its decision
Foreign minister Radek Sikorski has criticised a decision by the Belarusian foreign minister to stay away from a summit of EU and eastern European leaders in Warsaw, describing it as a “further step to isolation”.
Minsk’s decision to stay clear came as European leaders swarmed into the capital ahead of the Eastern Partnership meeting, which Poland hopes will strengthen ties with states once part of the Soviet Union.
“Not for the first time the Belarusian government has taken, as it appears to us, steps that are not in the interest of the Belarusian people,” said Mr Sikorski. “This is a further step towards isolation.”
