Commuters in Warsaw were left in chaos on Wednesday morning after firefighters were called to the metro to deal with a smouldering electric installation.

Passengers at the Mlociny station were eventually evacuated for their own safety, leaving many scratching their heads as they searched for an alternative way to get to work.

“At about 7.12 we received notification about the fire at Mlociny,” Captain Michal Gigola, a spokesman for the fire service, said in daily Fakt. “We promptly sent a team of firefighters and rescuers and dealt with the problem.”

The station remained closed for a further eight hours, once the issue had been resolved. ...
