PM Tusk thanked everyone who voted and promised his party would work for the entire population
Donald Tusk’s Civic Platform (PO) emerged from the general elections victorious after receiving 39.18 percent of the votes, giving it 206 seats in parliament.
The historic victory means that PO is the first political party in Poland to win back-to-back elections since the collapse of Communism.
Despite an aggressive campaign, main opposition party Law and Justice (PiS), headed by Jaorslaw Kaczynski, came second with 29.89 percent leaving it almost 10 percent behind its biggest rivals and with 158 seats.
