Fears have been raised over the communication systems
Poland’s armed services serving in Afghanistan are sending classified information back to Warsaw via a Russian satellite - raising fears of a security breach it was reported this week.
Polish forces use the Yamal-202 satellite, which is owned by the Russian energy giant Gazprom, which in the past has often faced accusations of harbouring close links to Moscow’s intelligence community.
The defence ministry was quick to state that all sensitive information sent via the satellite is encrypted, but this has failed to allay fears that Moscow may have been eavesdropping and perhaps got hold of the some juicy facts.
