Father Rydzyk has refused to pay his fine
Father Taduesz Rydzyk, the ecclesiastical media guru behind controversial station Radio Maryja, is refusing to pay a fine imposed upon him for illegal fund raising.
Back in June a court ordered the priest to pay a PLN 3,500 fine, plus PLN 1,000 in court costs, by October 8, but so far he has failed to pay. Using a number of legal processes to delay he is now in the process of appealing a court decision to deny him a payment deferment.
The fine was imposed after he was found guilty of illegal fundraising to finance, among other things, his television station Trwam, a media college and geo-thermal drilling in Torun. Radio Maryja, the court found, had issued a number of fund-raising appeal ...
