'Tens of millions' of pounds were extorted according to reports
Police have detained a gang of 25 Roma who extorted ‘tens of millions of pounds’ of British benefits after promising jobs to Poles.
According to website TVN24, the gang coaxed hundreds of Polish citizens to the UK with the false promise of work, then, taking advantage of their lack of English, left them unemployed while they collected their money from the welfare system.
British police are now working in cooperation with Polish officers in order to track down other victims and attempt to recover the money.
