Three men were arrested on Sunday after attempting to steal 70 kg of carp - Poland’s Christmas dish of choice.
Police on night patrol in the south east village of Sobieska Wola became suspicious after noticing a parked car at the side of the road. Upon spotting the officers, the men then dumped their bags and attempted to flee, but were eventually detained.
The men now face up to five years behind bars. The fish (estimated to be worth a total of PLN 1,000) were safely returned to the water.
