Vodka prices will rise along with other drinks
The host cities of the upcoming EURO 2012 tournament look set to see their alcohol prices rise as thirsty footy fans prepare to flock in en masse.
A report by TVN24 states that the biggest increases will be in the stadiums themselves although many pubs and restaurants will also be keen to boost takings.
However, the station predicts that the price hikes may not be quite the shock to the system that some are expecting.
“We are estimating that costs will increase by a maximum of 15 percent,” says restaurant owner Jan Kosciuszko. “However this is not just a direct result of the tournament, but is also down to a rise in general prices, which our suppliers predict will hit us around the same time.”
One of the important factors which it reports will determine just what will rise and by how much is which teams play in each city.
The cost of vodka is most likely to increase in Warsaw where Russia is playing, whilst Czech beer will probably see the biggest rise in Wroclaw as the national team plays its group games there.
