A young mother faces time behind bars after abandoning her newborn son.

The 19-year-old from the city of Swietochlowice known only as Ada A. gave birth to Rafal on January 11, reports daily Fakt. But upon her release from hospital, and accompanied by a female friend, she left her baby in a nearby building.

Rafal was later found, in a healthy state, and returned to the maternity ward where nurses were able to identify the mother

Ada A. has since admitted to leaving him there due to “difficult circumstances” and faces up to five years in prison, along with her friend.
