Poles poised for Oscars

Both Holland and Kaminski could scoop the prestigious award
There was good news for the Polish film industry this week as it was announced that Agnieszka Holland’s ‘In Darkness’ has been nominated for an Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film.
According to daily Fakt, the director of the Second World War flick has been shortlisted for this year’s Oscars (due to take place on February 26) and faces competition from Canada’s ‘Monsieur Lazhar’, Belgium’s ‘Bullhead’, Iran’s ‘A Separation’ and Israel’s ‘Footnote’.
Janusz Kaminski has also been nominated in the cinematography category for his role in WWI movie ‘War Horse’ (directed by Steven Spielberg).
