Councils are desperately trying to cut down on expenditure
Reports this week state that many towns and cities around the country are cutting down on the number of street lights they power in an attempt to save cash.
But according to Rzeczpospolita, the move is leading to an increase in the amount of crime, with robberies, break-ins and assaults all on the rise.
Krakow and Chelm are two such cities as well as Czestochowa which is currently looking at saving PLN 2.7 mln from it’s lighting bill.
