Lechia Operator, a subsidiary company related to Lechia Gdansk football team and the company responsible for running the PGE Arena, is in dire financial trouble and can’t afford to pay the rent or electricity bills for the facility. The company is three months behind with the rent of PLN 166,000 per month and unofficial sources suggest that they owe PLN 1 mln in electricity charges.

“The group has taken steps to secure the income of Lechia Operator,” commented Beata Ostrowska for the energy company. The debtors are lining up to claim their share of the funds guaranteed by UEFA for staging three matches during EURO 2012, estimated to be about PLN 2.3 mln. Thanks to that guaranteed income, Energa has agreed a timetable for payment with the stadium operator. “It is connected with extra costs, such as interest on the debt to be paid by the debtor,” Ostrowska continued.
