Poland may see far less fans over the summer than it initially expected
New reports out this week claim that the number of foreign fans planning to visit Poland for the upcoming Euro 2012 tournament this summer may in fact be far less than originally expected.
According to Dziennik Gazeta Prawna initial estimations stated that as many as 470,000 - 710,000 fans could arrive for the opening group stages, but new figures put forward by Minister of Sport and Tourism Joanna Mucha claim that as few as 200,000 may now make the trip.
Estimates claim that games featuring Russia, Croatia, Ireland and the Czech Republic will see around 12,000 fans turn up to cheer on each team, while countries such as Greece, Italy and Spain could potentially bring as few as 5,000 each.
However Communications Director for PL2012, Mikolaj Piotrowski remains optimistic despite the report. He states that he is expecting more fans to turn up as they have not yet spoken to all the different individual associations.
