An online-retailer which stocks sex toys and aids for married Catholic couples reported a large hike in sales this week.

With Valentine’s Day continuing to grow in popularity amongst Poles, Alkowa Malzenska (translated as ‘Marital Alcove’) took the opportunity to promote some of its goods from its extensive collection.

According to TVP, the firm specialises in erotic toys for “spouses who love God” and aims its sex aids purely at married couples.

Included in its long range of goods are items such as sexy underwear, libido-enhancing pills, edible bras, lubrication gels and erotic love dice.

The company, which has been going strong for over a year now, is owned by Izabela Kwiatkowska and her husband, both of whom are delighted with the level of success they have managed to obtain.

“We both came to the conclusion that marriage is the perfect place for people to develop their sexuality,” Izabela told the network. “We should be taking care of the sexual sphere, which requires much attention and embellishment, hence the idea of married couples choosing to use such gadgets in their lives.”

When it comes to which items are proving the biggest hit with customers, the owner states that the love dice, which indicate where partners should caress each other, were selling the best.

“I must admit, the dice have sold well. Of course, just behind the lingerie. Prices of the goods vary, but we’ve got some bargains.”

“The best form of advertising for us is through word of mouth, from customers who have already bought something and then tell their friends. We would rather not directly advertise.”

And it seems the pair are not the only ones to be cashing in on the act. Krakow’s Father Ksawery Knotz has released two books on the subject including ‘Seks Jakiego nie Znacie’ (‘Sex Like you Don’t Know it’) and states that while couples should be wary of going too far, dressing up nicely for your partner is not a sin.

“It’s important to remember the sphere of human love which can also be expressed through nice outfits for your loved one. This doesn’t just have to be on an occasional date, but can be on a daily basis,” he claims.

“But it cannot be too outrageous, like kinky outfits. There are many beautiful clothes that can help express love and feelings. We do not need to talk about sex gadgets, as these are associated directly with items like vibrators. But there are things like perfumes, gels, massage oils and a whole range of other items which can help enhance one’s sex life. These can help bring out the richness of a relationship.”
