US officials this week renewed threats to find an alternative location for parts of its planned missile shield network, as Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government stuck to its guns on what it would receive in return.
Polish negotiators have spun the talks on the shield infrastructure out for months longer than Czech counterparts, concerned they must win substantial concessions on funding and equipment for the army to make it worthwhile committing to a project which is likely to worsen relations with Russia.
