A car crash paralysed tram traffic in the northern part of Poland’s second-largest city on Tuesday after the police failed to send in a team to the accident site for two hours. A car hit a traction post on ul. Zgierska, and traffic could not be restarted without police presence. A police spokesman said that the late response was due to a sudden increase in the number of accidents at that time and the fact that several teams were assigned to direct traffic around a new fast tram line being built in the city.
