Warsaw Mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz all but admitted this week that the city may not go ahead with the planned second line of its metro system due to financial concerns – and certainly not in time for the 2012 European Football Championships. The city is to spend the next few weeks reexamining the plans for the line after contractors submitted bids of roughly double the PLN 3 billion initially put aside for the project.
