The annual pilgrimage to Częstochowa departed from the centre of Warsaw this week, with organisers estimating as many as 8,000 faithful will take part in the journey by foot to the heart of Polish Catholicism.

The annual pilgrimage to Częstochowa departed from the centre of Warsaw this week, with organisers estimating as many as 8,000 faithful will take part in the journey by foot to the heart of Polish Catholicism.
Every year thousands of Poles, mainly students and members of church youth organisations, make the journey, supported by an infrastructure that feeds and houses them in tents along the way.
