Government to Aid Storm Victims

The government has promised at least PLN 25 million in aid for victims of last weekend's storms, which left more than a million Poles without power and damaged houses across the country, leaving many families literally without a roof over their heads. TV was littered this week with upset families and mothers standing in front of homes that they will struggle to afford to rebuild after lightning, hail and winds of up to 200 miles an hour tore into villages and towns from the Baltic to the Tatras. The storms left at least four dead and 30 injured, according to government officials.
