Vladimir Putin is sitting tight
A spokesman for Vladimir Putin
has said that Moscow is sticking
to its threat to put missiles near
the Polish border in response to U.S. plans
for a European missile shield, and that
there had been an "information collision"
following reports to the contrary.Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow is "sticking to its commitment to its plans," to deploy a battery of Iskander rockets in its neighbouring enclave of Kaliningrad.
This contradicts a report on Wednesday from an anonymous Russian military source which said that Moscow intended to drop its plans for establishing short-range rockets near the Polish border in response to what it saw as being US hesita ...
