HIV tests to become obligatory

HIV tests are set to become obligatory for pregnant women within the next few weeks.

Until now, such examinations have only been recommended to those who fall into the high-risk categories, such as intravenous drug users etc.

The new directive, issued by the minister of health, will be funded by the National Health Fund (NFZ).

But there is still confusion as to the ins and outs of the new law, as patients will still have the right to refuse medical examinations, leaving it up to gynaecologists to convince them of the benefits of such tests. ...
