Organs up for sale in auction

Police are currently investigating a Polish man who recently attempted to sell both his kidney and bone marrow in an internet auction. The seller, known only to the authorities by his username ‘Rumun_79’, posted the offer on allegro (Poland’s most well-known internet auction site) with an initial reserve asking price of PLN 40,000 for each item.

He initially stated that the main reasoning behind the sale was a ‘difficult financial situation’, however both items were removed last week by the user before being bought, with no explanation. Police spokesman, Mariusz Sokolowski, explained that offering deals on human organs such as this over the internet is strictly against Polish law a ...
