Top referee arrested

The ongoing investigation into corruption in Polish football took another twist this week with the arrest of a top flight referee identified as Piotr P. His arrest means that there are now just 17 qualified referees in the Polish league, one less than the required number for matches to go ahead. So far 196 people have now been nicked amid allegations of match fixing, including the former national manager and a number of boardroom staff and match officials.
In other ref related news Englishman Howard Webb could be in line to oversee the Polish cup final. Webb caused a storm last summer after awarding a dodgy penalty against Poland during Euro 2008. ...
