Hotel stays up as new hotels continue to open

There was positive news for Poland’s hotel sector last month with Eurostat figures showing that room nights in Polish hotels increased by nearly 5% y-on-y in 2008. That is second only to Slovakia, while member states such as the UK, Spain, France and Ireland have seen a decrease in business since 2007.

The news follows on from the Warsaw Tourist Office’s results for 2008 which show that the number of foreign visitors increased by over 30% in 2008 from 2007, and that they stayed, on average, 4.6 nights in the capital. These numbers helped soften the blow of a fall in tourist numbers to Krakow in 2008, which saw a drop of over 18% in visitor numbers in the same period.
