Top bank wages grew 40 percent in 2008

The average salary for a top bank manager in 2008 was estimated to be around pln 2.2 million after an increase of approximately 40 percent on the previous year, says this week's Rzeczpospolita. The highest earning bank president was Józef Wancer, head of BPH who took home PLN 5.7 mln.

Other top earners included Pekao president Jan Krzysztof Bielecki who got PLN 4.5 million and Jarosław Augustyniak of Noble Bank who is thought to have taken PLN 3.5 million. However Pekao vice president Luigi Lovaglio made the most, taking PLN 6 million.
