Law and Justice minister (PiS) Marek Latas has denied drink driving charges, after being stopped by police, claiming that his blood-alcohol level was due to the amount of apples he had eaten. A test showed that the politician had 0.7 units of alcohol in his blood, the legal limit in Poland being 0.2. "I am diabetic, I ate a few apples before driving,” claimed Latas.
"I have been involved in no accident, I underwent a routine roadside check. I was confident there was no chance I had alcohol in my blood."
