Finance minister Jan Vincent Rostowski has rubbished a European Commission report that stated Poland will experience a ‘mild recession’.

Finance minister Jan Vincent Rostowski has rubbished a European Commission report that stated Poland will experience a ‘mild recession’. Rostowski said the prognosis was wrong and ‘not reliable’. “We do not agree with this forecast,” he said “We believe it is mistaken. Our forecast which predicts growth (in 2009) is more credible.”

The report suggests that GDP will fall by 1.4 percent and that the national budget deficit will reach 6.6 percent of GDP. Rostowzki though is still banking on GDP growth for 2009 of 2.0 percent, a figure jus ...
