Rostowski rubbishes EU recession claim8th May 2009
Finance minister Jan Vincent Rostowski has rubbished a European Commission report that stated Poland will experience a ‘mild recession’. Rostowski said the prognosis was wrong and ‘not reliable’. “We do not agree with this forecast,” he said “We believe it is mistaken. Our forecast which predicts growth (in 2009) is more credible.” The report suggests that GDP will fall by 1.4 percent and that the national budget deficit will reach 6.6 percent of GDP.
