A proposed gambling tax law could raise PLN 400 mln every year to help fund sport and tourism development. The money will be spent in the run up to the Euro 2012 championships if the government’s plan to tax casinos and other betting outlets goes ahead.
An increase in revenue from the gambling sector will boost the amount of government spending on the 2012 football tournament. The capital would go primarily towards the development of infrastructure. Bookmakers, horse racing and bingo halls will all be affected by the possible increase.
