After 22 years the so-called Gmurek Fortress has finally been seized by Warsaw City Hall, enabling a major road artery in the city to be widened. The dual-carriageway Powstancow Slaskich road has for decades been forced down to a single lane where it passes the Gmurek family’s possession, with cars mixing with trams, leading to enormous traffic jams.
